What is PVC-U (uPVC) ... ?
This is an abbreviation for the chemical name 'unplasticised PolyVinylChloride'. We are probably all familiar with PVC materials from plastic Macs to cable sheathing. The unplasticised bit basically means that it does not bend so easily.
Is it colourfast ... ?
Well yes and no. Good quality PVC-U white boards have a colourfast guarantee which may vary from 5 years upwards. However the cheaper poor quality variety much favoured by cowboy builders, is unlikely to carry any such guarantee. Look around for the pink or cream boards seen on many properties!
(we only sell the quality boards)
How can I tell a good quality board ... ?
Ask if the product carries a British or Irish Board of Agrément certificate.
(Most of our products have at least one. Many have both)
What are the qualities ... ?
* Manufactured in PVC-U , are robust and virtually maintenance free.
* Resists corrosion and insect attack.
* Colourfast guarantee.
* Comprehensive range available to provide solutions to most installation problems .
* Tough and durable. Capable of withstanding normal ladder weight.
* High gloss finish in Black, White and Brown. (Rainwater)
* Available in classic Half-round, Squareline and attractive Squareflow. (Rainwater)
* Never requires painting.
* Special wrap retaining clip allows a fast positive joint to be made.
* Guide marks to allow for thermal expansion and contraction.
Do I need special tools... ?
The simple answer is no. Your normal woodworking and masonry tools will be fine for installing PVC-U boards and fittings.
What on earth is Dry Verge ?
Dry Verge is a length of (usually) extruded PVC-U designed to form a finish between tiles or slates
and the pine end wall(s). It is supplied in several formats for use with various size tiles and slates and is usually supplied in black or white.
Do the boards expand/contract... ?
Yes they do. Although this expansion/contraction is small it is not insignificant. To overcome this problem our fittings have alignment markers, and as long as these guidelines are adhered to, there will be no problem with thermal expansion.
Are your products compatible with other manufacturers ?
Many of our products are compatible with other manufactures -
For example our 112mm Rainwater is compatible with Hepworth, Brett Martin, Osma, Polypipe, Marley, Hunter and Marshall Tufflex.
Please ask about individual products.
Do you offer special prices for bulk orders ?
